　　柯镇恶这个人物曾经并不被读者喜爱，甚至是讨厌，因为他身上的缺点着实不少，比如他性格暴躁，是非分辨能力差，经常误会人，往往把好人当成坏人，也因此容易造成很大的误会。他不仅和丘处机、黄药师发成冲突，还差点害一杖击毙郭靖，幸亏柯镇恶武功不高，不然肯定要闹的双雕血雨腥风。
　　柯镇恶有缺点，也有优点，他身上的三处优点，不但掩盖了自己的缺点，还让人不得不佩服和尊敬。
　　1不畏强权柯镇恶从来不怕死，不怕事，面对黑风双煞，面对欧阳锋，他明知双方实力悬殊，但是依然敢于挑战，是非常难得的亮剑精神。沙通天、彭连虎等人，也是一方宗师，但是面对武功高强的黄药师，竟然乖乖的从他胯下钻过，这种事，柯镇恶就是死也做不出来，他们这些人和柯镇恶比，实在差的太远。柯镇恶的要杀便杀，不像陈友谅那样是为了博得谢逊的同情，从而饶恕自己，柯镇恶是真的不畏强权，宁死不屈，这一点就值得敬佩。
　　2敢于认错认错看似是一件简单的事，但是让上级对下级，长辈对晚辈认错，并且真心认错的有多少？有多少人能放下这个面子？就像有位学者说的，有些人死不认错，因为他们不敢面对自己的羞耻。柯镇恶就敢于认错，他在得知误会了黄药师之后，非常惭愧，责骂自己，扇自己耳光，负荆请罪去认错，好几版影视剧中，柯镇恶更是向黄药师下跪认错，其实这不但不丢人，更能凸显柯镇恶勇于承担错误的精神。
　　柯镇恶不但是口头认错，还实质性的做事去弥补过错，为救黄药师等人，自己差点赔上了性命。黄药师最后能称柯镇恶一声柯大侠，大概就是他佩服柯镇恶敢于认错这一点，黄药师曾经迁怒徒弟，打断了他们的腿，虽然事后自己心中有愧疚，也想到创武功给徒弟，但是他始终没认错，直到徒弟们死的死伤的伤，他心中大概也后悔欠徒弟们一声对不起！
　　3重情重义人生得一知己足矣，柯镇恶得到了六个知己，江南七怪情同手足，有难同当，有福同享，实在让人羡慕。柯镇恶为了替五位兄弟报仇，纵使拼上一条老命，也从不退缩，对结拜兄弟如此重情，当真让人佩服。柯镇恶不但重情，还重义，柯镇恶为了素不相识的洪七公，宁愿舍弃自己的性命，也要与洪七公一起抗敌，两位大侠都是嫉恶如仇的人，他们惺惺相惜，事后洪七公由衷感谢柯镇恶，说他极其仗义！柯镇恶对晚辈也相当重义，巧遇大小武，明知不敌李莫愁，依然是我打不过她，不过既知朋友有难，不能不去。
