倚天屠龙记中的明教介绍明教是什么派

　　明教究竟是一个甚麽教派？在小说的第二十五章《举火燎天何煌煌》中，借主人翁之口有一个比较正式的介绍。书中称杨逍案头有一本《明教流传中土记》：张无忌翻开书来，但见小楷恭录，事事旁徵博引，书中载得明白：明教源出波斯，本名摩尼教，於唐武后延载元年传入中土。其时波斯人拂多诞持明教《二宗经》来朝，中国人始习此教经典。唐大历三年六月二十九日，长安洛阳建明教寺院大云光明寺，此後太原、荆州、扬州、洪州、越州等重镇，均建有大云光明寺。至会昌三年，朝廷下令杀明教徒，明教势力大衰。自此之後，明教便成为犯禁的秘密教会，历朝均受官府摧残。明教为图生存，行事不免诡秘，终於摩尼教这个摩字，被人改为魔字，世人遂称之为魔教。
　　对明教的这段论述，大体根据传统的学术资料，不过由於金庸撰写该书系於七十年代，故不可能接触八十年代学者对该教研究的著作。历史上真实的摩尼教，为公元三世纪中叶波斯人摩尼（Mani）所创立（图一）。其教义吸收了基督教、诺斯替派（Gnosticism）、琐罗亚斯德教等多种宗教的成分，而以二宗三际论为其出发点。二宗，谓光明和黑暗，即善和恶；三际谓初际、中际和後际，即过去、现在和未来。摩尼认为，在未有天地之前，存在著光明王国和黑暗王国，光明王国充满善美，而黑暗王国则尽是丑恶，两者断然分开，互不干扰。後来由於黑暗侵入光明，引起光明和黑暗的大战遂进入中际时期。在中际，光明和黑暗相混合，天地和人类是这种混合的产物。摩尼的创立正是为了超度人类的灵魂，使之早日摆脱黑暗的纠缠，重新回归光明王国。摩尼认为，世界的末日终将到来，那时地球将毁灭，光明和黑暗又将截然分开，回复到初际的情景，这亦就是後际。因其教阐明宗，用除暗惑，故在中国又被称为明教。但明教这一称谓并非自始就有，宋、元、明三代的文献，确实把这一教派称为明教，而在唐代的文献则还找不到确凿的资料，足以证明唐人把摩尼教也称为明教。所以，有的学者认为，摩尼教是以其创立者摩尼之名字命名，初入中国时，自然也就照名音译，但时长日久，该教逐渐华化，为中国平民百姓所接受。人们对其称呼，也就取其崇尚光明之教义，称为明教，而少用音译的名字。
　　明教的礼俗
　　金庸的小说对明教的礼俗有若干记述，其中有些於史有据，例如裸葬，摩尼教确有裸葬的戒律，有的则与史实大有出入。今择其要者略作评述。其一，明教徒要素食。这是一条重大原则，故事中提到张无忌见到所谓明教徒的朱元璋、徐达一伙在吃牛肉，为之一凛，但徐达却辩解道：咱们教规的第一要义是‘行善去恶’，吃肉虽然不好，但那是末节。（事见第十四章《当道时见中山狼》）徐达之言，在故事中自可成理，但在史实上，则全不可能。故事的第二十三章《灵英醉客绿柳庄》还有一段话称：明教教规本来所谓食菜事魔，禁酒忌荤，自总坛迁入昆仑山中之後，已革除了这些饮食上的禁忌。西域蔬菜难得，贵於肉食，兼之气候严寒，倘不食牛羊油脂，内力稍差者便抵受不住。
　　这段话则是小说家以今时来臆测古时之语。明教徒之食菜，并不是限定只吃蔬菜，而是谓素食。古代西域广布绿洲，盛产瓜果，这些正是摩尼教徒最为理想的食物。他们吃瓜果时，甚至连里边的小籽都吃下，因为他们认为这瓜籽包含的光明成分特别多，对於净化自身的灵魂大有裨益。在历史上，明教徒素食的戒律始终并没有被取消，除非是叛教者。也正因为其以素食为特徵，所以教外人和今人才往往易於把那些忌荤斋食的教派与明教挂勾。其二，明教徒的服饰。小说中称明教徒穿白袍，袍上绣著一个红色火焰。根据摩尼教文献，摩尼教的出家僧侣应并素冠服，则是要戴白帽，穿白袍。至於一般信徒，则无此要求。从史料推断，宋元以秘密会社为形式的明教徒，即使不出家，也崇尚白色，故也多有著白衣者。但绣以红色火焰，则缺乏历史根据，恐怕是出於小说作者的误会。摩尼教徒崇尚光明，但他们并不拜火。拜火是火祆教的特徵。火祆教源自波斯的琐罗亚斯德教，该教认为崇拜圣火可以通神，故在教徒的聚居地，必定要设立火坛、火庙，以供朝拜。但摩尼教并无这一礼仪，所以，小说中言张无忌统帅下的明教徒在蝴蝶谷聚会，并在圣火前誓师驱杀鞑子，齐声歌咏焚我残躯，熊熊圣火云云（见第二十五章《举火燎天何煌煌》），这是把火祆教的习俗张冠李戴，摩尼教徒并不拜火，当然也就不会以火焰作标志，并绣在自己的袍上。
