　　王惠的人物形象及主要事迹
　　人之宿命，先后无序，高低有常。《儒林外史》中的王举人就是其中一位，他与同乡周进相映衬，角色远次于周进。
　　山东兖州府汶上县老书生周进，出场序为《外史》第二位，在儒林混了一辈子，什么功名没挣到，六十多岁只好在乡里教几个蒙童，受尽戏弄。其中一次清明时分，一位三十多岁的王举人（即王惠，时未表其名），上坟遭雨，进周进的馆中坐坐。王举人功名在身，居高临下，与周进闲聊。所谈城乡之人，不是相熟，就是拜把世交。说明王举人在汶上县吃得开，有势力，读书出头了，行时得早，不象周进，六十多岁，乡里教书糊口。
　　王举人命该早发，据其向周进言，乡试大考，磕睡梦间，神灵启迪，五六个青脸神灵入其号，以大笔击其头，唤其王公，醒来文不经思，一气呵成。交卷时王考生向考官汇报此事，此考王考生中举。王举人很牛，有神助，并即时宣传，如其文章还行，想必考官也不敢与神灵作对了，所以时运和造势以及自我包装宣传很重要。
　　王举人避雨无事，见蒙童叫荀玫，大吃一惊，因为他正月初一曾梦见自己中进士，同榜有同乡荀玫，娃娃才七岁，说明他离大成功远着呢。主观不快乐，也就自我否定自己的宿命，不料二十年后成真。
　　王举人那天晚上占了老周地方，扔下一堆垃圾，倒霉的周进忙了半天，王举人眼里老周就是废物。那知周进时来运转，在贡院哭一场，别人赞助揖了个监生，中了举，也中了进士，一年一个样，三年大变样，在京里当起高干了。
　　王举人一边会考，继续熬他的快乐乡绅，直到五十多岁，与荀玟同年中了进士，排名荀玟后面。须发皓白的老王主动结交荀玫（此时书中才说王举人叫王惠），同叙乡谊，共述当年梦兆，把荀老弟当成自己幸运之神，资助有加，一同做官，你我不分，连搞个半仙扶乩也在一起：陈半仙对老王判词是两日黄堂，天府夔龙，琴瑟琵琶路上逢，一盏醇醪心痛，有大前途，冷结局。在京为官，昔日偶遇视为无物的周进，也通过周进妹夫金东崖打成一片。王惠的经历说明他的宿命存在，个人混的圈子也是不停变化的。
　　王惠运气好，接任南昌太守，卡了前任蘧太守一笔银子，从严治下，法家行为，又挣钱又办事，官声很旺，升观察使。陷宁王叛乱，无法脱身，降作伪官，不久宁王被擒，王惠出逃江湖，身无分文，偶遇前任蘧太守之孙，受助纹银二百两，更名改姓，削发为僧。此间遭遇，与判词相合，两日黄堂，两日是昌字，为官南昌；宁王玉牒为八，合琴瑟琵琶之意，最后什么一盏心痛就是古寺余生了。
　　写《儒林外史》的吴敬梓虽借用了一些阴榜封禅的写法，其人并不迷信，对自己境遇也不抱怨，却安排了王惠这么一位从头到尾宿命的人物，其目的我还未参透。
　　不过从王惠经历来看，有一点可以辨证，每个人高低起伏是正常的，就是有神灵保佑、有灵梦提醒、有判词预告，身陷其中，个人也未清晰，事后才悟，原来如此。另外一个人持续成功很难，持续失败太容易了。
