　　《儒林外史》中的陈礼是个怎样的人
　　《儒林外史》中的陈礼（字和甫）就是这样一个人。陈礼本是江西南昌人，曾在山东汶上县薛家集观音庵内行道，与考中进士的荀枚、王惠算是半个老乡。他来到荀、王的府上，说自己当年曾算出一位贵人（即荀枚）要到观音庵里来，但当时荀枚还没考中，天机不可泄露，故预先回避了，否则两人早该见面。接下来，他大谈特谈自己在各个王府和高官府上扶乩作法的事儿。所谓扶乩，乃道教的一种占卜方法，又称扶箕、抬箕、扶鸾、降笔、请仙等等。具体做法是用乩笔在沙盘上写字。乩笔是两根小木棒，钉成丁字形。沙盘是簸箕上放沙或米。在扶乩中，需要有人扮演被神明附身的角色，他会根据沙盘上的图形说出是某词某句，由这个词句预测吉凶。现在的中小学们爱玩的笔仙游戏，与此类似。荀、王两人被他说得五迷三道，就请他算一算将来的前程。陈礼烧符、念咒、再烧符，一番忙活后，请下了关羽（伏魔大帝关圣帝君），随后给王惠判出一段词：羡尔功名夏后，一枝高折鲜红。大江烟浪杳无踪，两日黄堂坐拥。只道骅骝开道，原来天府夔龙。琴瑟琵琶路上逢，一盏醇醪心痛！王惠说，只有第一句能看明白，功名夏后是夏后氏五十而贡的典故，我恰好五十岁中进士，这句话算是验了。其他话全然不理解。陈礼说，神仙从不误人，日后必会应验。
　　随后，王惠每有变动和见闻，都不由自主地跟判词做一下对照，竟然全部应验，而最后一句尤神奇。宁王造反，占领江西。王惠被逼投降了宁王。他在军中听说宁王在皇帝家谱中排行第八，悟到关圣帝君所判的琴瑟琵琶头上是八个王字，不正好指的是宁王吗？鲁编修曾把王惠的经历与陈礼的占卜讲给自己两个朋友娄三公子、娄四公子听。娄四公子说，‘几者，动之微，吉之先见’。这就是那扶乩的人一时动乎其机。说是有神仙，又说有灵鬼的，都不相干。总之，是扶乩的人见机行事，然后当事人自己和某些旁观者捕风捉影，硬往上贴，自然显得神奇。道理应该没错，但这样的说法并不影响陈礼的生意，相反给他带来了巨大名声。荀枚和王惠把他推荐给新任通政司大人范进，估计范进又把他推荐给了其他高官，因为按陈礼自己的说法，他在京城蒙各部院大人及四衙门的老先生请个不歇，经晚生许过他升迁的，无不神验。
　　其实，现在还有陈礼这样的人。他们的生存土壤并没消失，想想新闻曝出的那些高官被骗的弱智故事，就能马上对上号。
　　方士术士专门在高官富商的门上行走，若有一两次灵验，就会口口相传，被推荐到其他高官身边。
