　　韦小宝的原型揭秘
　　据说韦小宝的原型，叫隆科多，实有其人，是康熙训练的少年摔跤手，在擒拿鳌拜这场重头戏中立下汗马功劳。隆科多可没有韦小宝这么好运气，他出了大力气，立下大功劳，却没有像韦小宝一样扶摇直上，仕途亨通。他一直被人排斥打击，而且康熙对这个少年朋友竟好像完全忘到了脑后似的，对他所受的欺负完全不理不睬。康熙到了晚年，才告诉隆科多说，我做了一辈子皇帝，阅人无数，那么多的人才，你是最好的一个。刻意给你许多磨难，就是怕你少年得志心生骄傲。残酷的社会折磨人也成就人，现在你是个一等的大人才，我可以放心地把你留给下一任皇帝了。隆科多听了，大为感动，觉得这辈子的苦都是值得的。康熙死后，宣读继位诏书这么重要的大事，都是隆科多担任，他在雍正一朝，终于大展了一番拳脚。
　　不过隆科多那时代，皇帝不用他，他除了老老实实猫在家里韬光养晦，没别的出路。我们这一代，大可以嚷嚷一声，此处不留爷，自有留爷处，潇潇洒洒就投奔别处了。沉不住这口气，自然也就浪费了老天爷这番历练打压的苦心，看不到黑暗之后的黎明了。

　　韦小宝是新派武侠小说家金庸《鹿鼎记》中的主人公。这个人物更是被各大电视剧亲睐，频繁出现在观众的视野里。那历史上真的有韦小宝这个人吗？韦小宝原型是谁？
　　据记载，清圣祖康熙的时候，派了一个御前侍卫做使者，到俄罗斯去谈判划定边界之事，结果这个人被俄罗斯女王看中，成为女王的男宠，他们在枕席上订立了十八条盟约但是这个人居然不是韦小宝！他叫托硕。这本书也不叫《鹿鼎记》，而叫《檐曝杂记》，作者赵翼是乾隆进士，清中叶有名的史学家、诗人。
　　关于托硕与俄罗斯女王的故事，见《檐曝杂记》卷一俄儸斯条：康熙中，圣祖尝遣侍卫托硕至彼定边界事。托硕美须眉，为女主所宠，凡三年始得归。所定十八条，皆从枕席上订盟，至今犹遵守不变。
　　赵翼史学方面的代表作有《廿二史札记》、《陔余丛考》，皆扎实可靠，他还写过江山代有才人出，各领风骚数百年这样有名的警句。然而《檐曝杂记》虽也挂着史料笔记的招牌，却不大高明。比如上面所记托硕与俄罗斯女王的故事，简直可以称之为一个中国人在俄罗斯的奇遇。故事中的风流女王，无疑就是彼得大帝的姐姐摄政公主苏菲亚；所谓边界盟约十八条，应该就是《中俄尼布楚条约》。金庸写《鹿鼎记》时自然没有少看明清史料笔记，赵翼这本书大概也曾寓目，韦小宝的原型很可能就是托硕，虽然他并没有托硕那样的美须眉，也并没有在俄罗斯停留三年。
　　但无论如何，韦小宝式的奇遇作为小说家言是可以的，放在史书里就显得荒唐。《檐曝杂记》中靠不住的记载，还不止托硕的俄罗斯之行。俄儸斯这一条不过五六百字，就有不少臆测荒唐之处，基本不可信。里面提到兆惠西征回疆时，闻西北有龚国者，其城周五百里，皆铜铸成，岂即俄儸斯耶？又说，其国历代皆女主，号察罕汗，闻近日亦易男主矣。其实俄罗斯史上女沙皇并不多见，并且苏菲亚公主也不是真正的沙皇。
　　关于国内的记载也好不到哪儿去。《檐曝杂记》里面还有两卷讲作者在桂、粤、云、贵等地做官时的经历见闻，也多荒唐无稽之记载。比如他说广西镇安多虎患，其中有一种老虎已黑色，兼有肉翅。月明之夕，居人常于栏房上见之，盖千里神物也。他提到广东住有海外来的黑奴，和粤女婚配生子，有人戏弄他说：尔黑鬼，生儿当黑。今儿白，非尔生也。黑奴用刀砍开孩子的腿骨看，发现骨头是纯黑的，但儿子已死，于是大恸。赵翼由这故事得出的结论是：始知骨属父，而肌肉则母体也。这个故事看着也眼熟，后来想起曾见于《聊斋志异》。
　　不知道为什么，包括赵翼在内的中国旧时候的史学家，在讲到外国或是异族的事情时，总是特别轻信，想象力也变得格外丰富，很容易地就由史学家摇身一变而成为志怪传奇小说家。
