杜慎卿的主要事迹杜慎卿是个怎样的人 天长杜府，一门三鼎甲，四代六尚书，天下闻名。五房便是做过礼部尚书的，这位宗伯公的令孙杜十七老爷，名倩，字慎卿，是大江南北数一数二的才子。 《儒林外史》中，杜慎卿亮相，是在春暮夏初，天气渐暖时节。十七老爷身穿莺背色的夹纱直裰，手摇诗扇，脚踏丝履，近前看时，面如傅粉，眼若点漆，温恭尔雅，飘然有神仙之概。这还是吴敬梓先生让我们借诸葛天申三个俗秀才的眼光看到的杜慎卿，落常套了些。再来听听季苇萧是怎么面赞的：小弟虽年少，浪游江湖，阅人多矣，从不曾见先生珠辉玉映，真乃天上仙班。今日对着先生，小弟亦是神仙中人了。同样夸人像神仙，季苇萧这张巧嘴，一般人的确比他不过，夸着人还顺便把自己往起拎了拎。这季苇萧自恃甚高，品人也确实眼光独到，通部《儒林外史》中，也只有杜慎卿令他渴慕已久，一见便倒身下拜他与杜少卿不是同路中人，所以恭敬也还恭敬，却并不倾倒。总之，说十七老爷是《儒林》中第一美男子，决不为过。 杜慎卿不仅有潘安之貌，而且有子建之才。他点评萧金铉的游春新作：诗以气体为主，如尊作这两句：‘桃花何苦红如此？杨柳忽然青可怜。’岂非加意做出来的？但上一句诗，只要添一个字，‘问桃花何苦红如此’，便是《贺新凉》中间一句好词。如今先生把他做了诗，下面又强对了一句，便觉索然了。几句话把萧金铉说的透身冰冷，又何尝不令读者拍案叫绝？ 杜慎卿也不仅有子建之才，而且有经国之识。他在雨花台评说方孝孺，说他迂而无当，搁着多少天下大事不管，单揪着燕王家事不放，这人朝服斩于市，不为冤枉的。对这个观点，包括我在内，大概许多人不能苟同，皇帝的家事当然也是天下事，因而匹夫有责，何况朝臣？这个问题，立场不同，见仁见智，这里且不论了。但是杜慎卿此前的一句，本朝若不是永乐振作一番，信着建文软弱，久已弄成个齐梁世界了！我想任凭是谁，都得承认是一语中的的真知灼见吧。 杜慎卿有潘安之貌，子建之才，经天纬地之识，但这些还不是他最令人绝倒的。十七老爷的绝妙之处在于他生活中那些别人学不来的雅趣。 杜慎卿吃得雅。请客要把俗品都捐了，只是江南鲥鱼（现在长江里可没有多少条了，做成菜怕不要贵死人！）、樱桃、鲜笋、下酒小菜。而他自己则是极大的酒量，却不甚吃菜，只拣几片笋和几个樱桃下酒。点心上来，猪油饺饵、鸭肉烧卖、鹅油酥是不动的，只吃一片软香糕和一碗雨水煨的六安毛尖茶。十七老爷的饮食习惯既然已经精致得堪比大观园中的林妹妹，可惜也就难免会有遭罪的时候。诸葛三人回席，没敢点大荤，杜慎卿推却不过勉强吃了一块板鸭，结果登时呕吐起来，害得众人真是不好意思啊。 杜慎卿玩得更雅，而且心跳。能把南京城中大小戏班的旦角都叫来做成莫愁湖湖亭胜会（地方选得好雅致！），非十七老爷不可，别人断没有这个魄力。这次胜会，说通俗点，就是十七老爷一手策划、组织并兼任评委会主席的一次大型选秀活动。并且十七老爷的玩法让人心跳之处就在于，不像现在那些选秀活动有股顶风十里都闻得到的铜臭味。十七老爷雅就雅在决不以赢利为目的，所有使费都是自掏腰包。不仅不收报名费，十七老爷尊重艺术家，不肯白传了人来，参赛者每人有五钱银子的轿马费不说，还有一对荷包、一把诗扇的纪念品多有文化！于是乎便有六七十人招之即来，才艺大比拼从白昼做到黑夜，又点起几百盏明角灯，高高下下，照耀辉煌，歌声缥缈，直入云霄。引动各行各业的有钱人都雇了渔船，搭了凉篷，挂了灯，撑到湖中观看。看得高兴时齐声喝彩，直闹到天明才散。过一日城门口挂出一张后来流传久远的梨园榜，冠亚季军排定座次，粉丝团欢欣鼓舞，连日吃酒庆贺。盛况传遍了水西门，闹动了淮清桥。湖亭选秀功德圆满，十七老爷名震江南。 杜慎卿貌美才高，识广趣雅，这些无人不服；比较有争议的，是其为人的秉性、德行。 杜慎卿有一样多少有些与众不同的志趣，中国传统的出典叫断袖，现在与国际接轨，时尚的表达是断臂。率性直言的韦四太爷曾说慎卿虽是雅人，我还嫌他尚带着些姑娘气，多少与此有关。不过韦四太爷身份不同，是杜慎卿的长辈，自然可以说的不客气；一般人至多不过背后把来做个谈资下酒佐餐，胆大的如季苇萧还敢拿来开个玩笑，哄骗实心实意想结识知己的十七老爷去看那个有着一副油晃晃的黑脸，两道重眉，一个大鼻子，满腮胡须的胖道士来霞士也多亏着杜慎卿大人雅量，不与他计较，这就是十七老爷大家公子出身，气度不同于小户人家的地方。 总之，性取向如何，这是十七老爷的私生活，他人无权说三道四。我赞同这样的观点：在不触及法律、不侵害公众利益的前提下，个人有选择自己生活方式的自由，一般社会观念不能成为评判私生活的基准。何况，若能不带偏见地去看杜慎卿知己难觅的感慨，也自有其感人之处：假使天下有这样一个人，又与我同生同死，小弟也不得这样多愁善病！只为缘悭分浅，遇不着一个知己，所以对月伤怀，临风洒泪！可见十七老爷也还称得上是性情中人，只不过与一般人爱好志向有所不同而已。尤其是杜慎卿强调这事要相遇于心腹之间，相感于形骸之外，方是天下第一等人，这境界也算得上是高的了。 我对杜慎卿深感不以为然的，当然首先是他对女性的偏见。十七老爷自去好他的男美不妨，却不该将普天下的女性都一网打尽（他那句经典台词听着实在让人生气，这里就不引用了，诸位请温习三十二回）。不过他这话不是公开言论，是私下里向季苇萧诉苦时说的，倒也罢了，我们不和他计较。十七老爷做的让人最不敬服的一件事，就是把鲍廷玺推到杜少卿那里。 鲍廷玺年轻时跟随养父鲍文卿带戏班到杜府唱过堂会，受过杜府的关照，也算是杜府的门下，听得杜府十七老爷来南京的消息，自然赶来效力。这鲍廷玺为人不似有古风的养父，乖巧得很，侍候十七老爷也当真卖力。十七老爷请客，鲍廷玺笛音助兴；十七老爷大醉，鲍廷玺代劳送客；十七老爷结交新知，鲍廷玺详细介绍来历性格，无微不至。十七老爷兴致高雅，要做湖亭胜会评梨园榜，鲍廷玺更是发挥自身专业优势，尽心竭力，看场地，备行头，传人手，从剧务到舞台监督都一手包办了。 可是，十七老爷虽然做湖亭会花钱如流水（想想看，莫愁湖亭的场地租用费、招待宾客的酒菜钱、六七十人的轿马费和礼品费、灯烛火油等剧务费，尤其是奖给冠军郑魁官的那只二两黄金的艳若樱桃金杯，得多少银子！），然而当汗马功劳的鲍廷玺求他恩借几百两银子团起一个戏班子做生意（这也是正经用途）时，这位十七老爷竟好意思斩钉截铁地把他推到堂弟杜少卿那里！杜慎卿教了鲍廷玺一套要钱的办法，措词间对杜少卿颇有不敬不说，最后还不忘加上一句他若问你可认得我，你也说不认得，把自己撇得一干二净。难怪杜少卿府上的娄焕文娄老伯，临去遗言时谆谆告诫杜少卿：你平生最相好的是你家慎卿相公，慎卿虽有才情，也不是甚么厚道人。娄翁不愿离间人家兄弟之情，说话客气，其实岂止是不厚道，简直就是太不厚道了！就这一件事，便可见十七老爷雅虽雅矣，却非君子。所以，武正字为他担心，梨园榜虽然评得至公至明，只怕立朝之后做主考房官却要目迷五色，不是没有道理的。君子以德行服人，十七老爷虽然万般皆好，但欠缺了这最重要的一样，就让人无可奈何了。
