　　石清当初的爱情选择历来是《侠客行》读者们争论的话题。
　　当初，还有一个叫梅芳姑的女子追求石清，可石清没有接受这位梅姑娘的爱意。有意思的是这位梅姑娘不是不如闵柔，可石清却偏偏选中了闵柔为妻。过了好多年，那位梅姑娘还是不明白，她问石清：当年的容貌，和闵柔到底谁美？
　　石清踌躇半晌，道：二十年前，你是武林中出名的美女，内人容貌虽然不恶，却不及你。
　　梅芳姑又问：当年的武功和闵柔相比，是谁高强？
　　石清道：你的武功兼修丁梅二家之所长，当时内子未得上清观剑学真谛，自是逊你一筹。
　　梅芳姑再问：然则文学一途，又是谁高？
　　石清回道：你做诗填词，咱夫妇识字也是有限，如何比得上你？
　　梅芳姑反问：想来针线之巧，烹饪之精，是不及你这位闵家妹子了？
　　石清摇头道：内子一不会补衣，二不会裁衫，连炒鸡蛋也炒不好。如何及得上你千伶百俐的手段？
　　那么，为什么石清选择了闵家妹子，而拒绝了梅姑娘呢？这不但梅芳姑不懂，还有好多人也不解。
　　石清自己说：梅姑娘，不是不知道，你样样比闵师妹强，不但比她强，比我也强。和你在一起，自惭形秽，配不上你。
