　　在《碧血剑》中，有一位很神秘的老人，此人性格古怪，行事说话往往出人意料，武功却是出神入化、登峰造极。凭借混元功、破玉拳、铁指诀、华山剑法等数名绝艺纵横江湖，罕有敌手，连自狂自傲的金蛇郎君夏雪宜也得惧他三分。
　　相信很多人都已经猜到了，这个人就是袁承志之师，华山掌门穆人清，外号神剑仙猿。在他的带领下，华山派已经俨然成为当时武林第一大派！可是读遍《碧血剑》，我们会很奇怪，穆人清那么高的武功，他的师父是谁呢？请看下一段。
　　《碧血剑》记载，明朝败亡同年，华山派召开了门人大会，当时的袁承志，已经20多岁了。可见，碧血剑的故事应当发生在明朝。那么，这就引出了一个问题：
　　尽管《笑傲江湖》一书中没有明确交代发生的时代背景，可是我们可以推断出它是发生在明朝，大概1500年。《碧血剑》应发生在《笑傲》之后。可是笑傲那个时期，由于华山剑、气二宗内斗，导致华山派四分五裂，后来岳不群一死，华山派几近瓦解。那么，在《碧血剑》中，这个门派又是怎样迅速兴起的呢？穆人清的武功又是谁教的呢？
　　很明显，能够在那么短的时间里成为武林第一大派，穆人清的背后，一定有高人指点，这个高人，是谁呢？联系《笑傲》我们给出了一个合理的答案：穆人清的师父是令狐冲。但令狐冲一来已经接任恒山掌门，二来他曾言明退出江湖，肯定不会有重建华山之心，他为什么要收徒呢？想来一定是老来无聊，静极思动，又不想风太师叔所传的独孤九剑失传，所以收下了穆人清这个小徒儿。
　　我们再通过时间上的推断。看能不能合得上。
　　据书中所载，华山召开门人大会的时间，是明亡同年即公元1644年。穆当时已经90多岁，又收了两代弟子，袁承志和冯难敌的儿子冯不催都是20多岁，冯难敌的师父黄真40多岁，我们以每代20年计，大概是这样的情景：
　　穆在20多岁时被令狐冲收为徒弟，开始跟随师父习武，后又闯荡江湖，多年发展，在穆50多岁时，他接掌了华山派，这时他收了黄真等第一代弟子；70岁时，收了冯难敌等第二代弟子。这就合得上《碧血剑》的辈分关系了。
　　令狐冲与穆人清究竟是什么关系？
　　要是说起令狐冲与穆人清的关系，相比大多数的金庸都会感觉无从说起，因为二人看是没有关系，但其实却是同门的关系了，看过金庸的武侠小说《碧血剑》的肯定都会知道穆人清是华山派的掌门人，而令狐冲则是金庸的另一部小说《笑傲江湖》里的华山派掌门人岳不群的徒弟，所以令狐冲与穆人清的关系细算起来就是同门师祖以及以上级别的了。
　　至于令狐冲与穆人清的关系孰大孰小，谁是长辈谁是晚辈还没有把握可以分得清，因为《笑傲江湖》和《碧血剑》是金庸的众多小说里唯一两部没有年代的，只是后来穆人清又出现在了《鹿鼎记》里，所以令狐冲与穆人清的关系也大概可以推测的出来了，穆人清绝对是令狐冲的晚辈，他的功夫有可能是从令狐冲徒弟或者令狐冲师兄弟之间继承下来的。
　　当然还有的读者曾经推测，令狐冲与穆人清的关系是师徒，穆人清是令狐冲的大弟子，但是总所周知，令狐冲的独孤九剑是从风清扬哪里学来的，而穆人清如果真的是令狐冲的大弟子的话，他的剑术绝对不会是堂堂之阵，正正之师这般模样的，所以令狐冲与穆人清到底是不是师徒一直以来都是备受争议的。
